The Coming Reward(3)

2 Timothy 4:3(ESV)
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their passions.

The gospel of Christ Jesus is not to please everyone. It is to correct, rebuke, and bring us to orderliness. Paul again continues to enlighten his son Timothy on what he’s going to face in ministry. One strategy of Satan against the church is to promote teachings that have nothing to build our faith but to sift many into darkness.

Many have fallen according to their lust, the Bible speaks against this lust which will expose many to follow unhealthy teachings. The word lust in this context comes from the word “epithumia” which means desire and longing for what is forbidden. As children of God, our minds must only be set on what is Christ-centered rather than what will please the soul and lead us to condemnation.

Beloved, stay away from men who seek pleasant speaking for their pleasure. Such people turn out to introduce new doctrines that put you into bondage and limitation. Follow after what is pure, holy, and that which builds one to perfection. Stay away from men who gather viewpoints that suit their selfish desires. In all things let Christ be seen in you. Hallelujah!!!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for rebuking me and correcting me all the time. Shine forth in my life and lead me into perfection in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
