Beware Of False Teachers

Colossians 2:8(ESV)
See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

The word beware is from the Greek word blepō which is translated as the ability of one to perceive and discern concerning a matter. Paul warned the church in Colosae to stay away from men who had adopted a new teaching that did not conform to the truth in God’s word. There are so many vain teachings which seek to direct men away from the truth.

The writer says these teachings are full of philosophy and vain deceit and only amount to deceiving men by putting them in bondage. In Paul’s teaching on addressing this matter, he points out that the teachings of men are not based on the revealed writings of God but on the traditional practices of men.

Christ is the governing principle of all genuine wisdom and knowledge, the reality of all genuine teachings, and the only measure of all concepts accepted by the true God. Beloved, hence let all our focus be on Christ rather than vain genealogies that do not pinpoint Christ to the world. Be blessed!!!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for guiding me through your word. Teach me in the knowledge of your truth and help me to follow after charity in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
