Scripture: Philippians 3:9(ESV)
And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.
Paul’s heart desired to know Jesus Christ and for him to be found in Him. He traded the righteousness that he had achieved by keeping the law for righteousness that comes from God on the bases of faith in Christ. It is God who makes us righteous when we place our faith and trust in Him.
No matter how diligent we are, no matter how good we are in the sight of the world, we can never make ourselves righteous in the sight of God. God is the source of all righteouness. Only those to whom God gives that righteouness can attain His quality of righteousness.
In our pursuit of God, righteous living is paramount to assist us and guide us to pursue God more. Without it, there is no way we can please God. If we hunger to be righteous in our own eyes, we must come to God for the grace He gives is immeasurable.
