2 Timothy 4:8(ESV)
Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
In our devotional yesterday we learned that a proper Christian life has three aspects: fighting a good fight against the kingdom of darkness for the interest of God’s kingdom, running the course for the carrying out of God’s economy according to God’s eternal purpose, and keeping the faith for participation in the divine riches in God’s economy.
Apostle Paul has indeed set an adequate pattern for us. The coming reward is based on how well you have run the heavenly race after taking possession just like Paul. His ability to be faithful towards his assignment made him realize the crown that awaited him in eternity even though he was still operating here on earth. There is a reward that awaits each one of us according to our labor in Christ.
The phrase…” there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness with which the righteous judge shall recompense me..” is to tell us the symbol of glory given as a prize to a faithful steward for becoming a triumphant runner in the kingdom of God. This prize is not given by grace or by faith but according to the measure of our integrity towards the kingdom of God. Hallelujah!!!

Heavenly Father I thank you for making me a vessel of honour, enlightening my path, and causing me to shine forth in every area of my life to receive the crown of righteousness in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
