Luke 9:49(ESV)
John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he does not follow with us.”
The name of the Lord has been exalted and raised above every other name. The Bible teaches that the Father has highly exalted him and bestowed upon him power and authority. When John came to Jesus at the said hour, He knew John did not fully understand the assignment of Christ because He came as a life-giving Spirit.
This was an impetuous act by John. It was contrary to the virtue of the Saviour he accompanied in the work of ministry. In Numbers 11:28, Joshua went to Moses to forbid the men in the camp from prophesying when he saw it. But Moses’ answer shocked him, He said, “Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the LORD’s people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”
The church should be united and do the work of Christ in love, in understanding and in one way that brings glory to the Father. No need to argue over what God sees right. Let us brotherly love one another, support one another and preach the word in truth and spirit for the perfection of the saint and the work of ministry. Be blessed in the Name Lord Jesus!!!
Prayer:
Help me Father to do the work of ministry in love and follow your ways in diligence and humility. Help me to fulfil every assignment bestowed upon me in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
