John 13:34(ESV)
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
The core value of Christianity rules on the foundation of love, without it, no one can have a successful ministry. This is the greatest commandment the word of God wants us to fulfill every minute of our life. We know that we have passed out of death into life because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death(1 John 3:14).
The emphasis of today’s scripture places more on the call and awakening of the church to live in harmony and unity rather than an offensive life system. It is very wrong for one to say he(she) loves the LORD but hates his(her) neighbor or colleague. What the church was established on is God’s institution of love which Christ showed to us. The church should set its love system based on the standard to which Christ has done.
Beloved in the Lord, Jesus is calling on us to emulate this same love that He has shown us to the church and the world. For us to enjoy our daily walk with Him, loving one another should be the first thing. This will help our daily walk to grow deeper, and progress from the outward elements to the inward because love is the inner substance of God. Glory to God!!!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and showing me your love. Help me to love one another as you loved me in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
