Ephesians 6:2-3(ESV)
Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
There is a promise from the King of Zion to the sons of God. This promise is captured in our ability to honor our parents according to the command of God. Honoring your parent is quite different from obeying them. One can obey their parent without honoring them.
For us to honor our parents, we need full understanding and an attitude of honor cultivated in our spiritual life to fulfill this promise. Without it, there is no way you will be able to fulfill the promise. Honoring your parent is not just a first commandment with a promise of long life but also a command concerning man’s relationship with a man( Exodus 20:12).
Beloved, the word of God assures us that it shall be well with us when we fulfill this command. You shall have all material blessings in abundance and live long as God’s blessings in this life to those who learn to honor their parents. If we wish to prolong our days and enjoy His blessings, we must learn to obey and honor our parents as God commands the church. God be your helper!!!
Prayer:
Loving Father, help me ever living God to be committed to the voice of God that emphasizes the principle of honoring our parent for me to enjoy all your blessings that comes with honor in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
