Scripture: Mathew 10:16(ESV)
Behold, I am sending you out as sheep amid wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
Evangelism is one of our greatest requirements as Christians. As disciples of Christ, we have been sent as sheep amid wolves. Jesus used the word “wolves” to give us a clear idea of the people we are sent to. People who have been raised with different doctrines.
Whose way of understanding and doing things looks so different from us and last of all who are exposed to a different belief system. We operate among violent predators who will stop at nothing to pounce on us.
Some will fight us because of the truth. The only way to outwit these wolves and survive is to adopt these survival traits, Jesus prescribed;” be harmless as doves and wise as serpents”. We must be calm, peaceful, and serene as doves and also adopt the wisdom of the serpents. Serpents are always afraid of exposure and confrontation. Once they shed off bad skin they never come back to it.
Beloved, let us be peaceful as doves and also wise as serpents, avoiding unnecessary exposures and confrontations. The hallmark of our highest calling is based on doing the will of the Father and avoiding quarrels and teaching them that are lost the word of God.
Jesus counseled his disciples that if such people receive you as you go out to them, abide with them if you’re received but to them that do not, shake off your sandals as a testimony against them( Mathew 6:10-11). Be bold as a lion and do the work of the ministry with much enthusiasm. Receive the grace of God to be a faithful minister of God!!!
Prayer:
Thank you Father for giving me the grace I will be a faithful minister of God, do not depart from me, oo God. Let your presence abide with me in all I do in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
