Scripture: Titus 3:9(Recovery Version)
But avoid foolish questionings and genealogies and strifes and contentions about the law, for they are unprofitable and vain.
The Apostle Paul’s counsel to the church is to stress the things God the Father, His son, and the Holy Spirit have done and given to us. The eternal blessings, God’s kindness, the love, His act of justifying, regeneration, and the renewing of the Holy Spirit who is in us and works in our lives daily. His divine actions are things of life that have made us heirs of the kingdom and inherit the earth.
Avoid unnecessary debate, genealogies, strife, contentions about the law, and anything argumentative that does not contribute to a strong foundation in building up the believer. Endless genealogies are matters of knowledge that belong to the tree of Knowledge and should be avoided. The things of life belong to the tree of Life and must be stressed.
Paul makes us no that such things are unprofitable and vain. The law was not given to limit the freedom of man but to guide every action in other for God’s will to be established in the lives of men. Things that are unprofitable kill and do not give life. May the Spirit of God help and guide you in this season of your life.
Prayer:
El- Roi, I’m grateful every time of my life for helping me understand your Word. Help me to stay out of every form of endless genealogies that are unprofitable in Jesus’ Name.Amen.
